FOR THE YEAR 2005 - 2006

Introduction

It is immense pleasure to present the Annual Report of Kadamba Charitable Trust for the year 2005-2006. Kadamba Charitable Trust of North Kanara is a registered Non-Governmental, Non-profitable and secular voluntary organisation. This organisation is registered under Mumbai Trust registration Act 1950 during November 1999. And also registered under Foreign Contribution Act 1976.

The association Kadamba Charitable Foundation is a registered non-governmental, non-profitable and secular voluntary organisation. This association is established by a group of like-minded people to initiate various Socio-economic, Educational, Health, Community Development and Environmental activities for the welfare and the development of rural and urban disadvantages sectors of various activities in the villages of North Kanara District during the reporting period 2005-2006 with local resources mobilisation and with interface consultancy own resources. The following activities have been carried out.

1.Organisation of Self Help Groups:

Kadmaba Charitable Foundation has over 600 groups and focus on awareness on women's rights and on access to control or resources which they require to create space for themselves and ensure a sustainable livelihood. Our supported programme aiming at poverty alleviation and the empowerment of women.

2. Integrated Child Development (Creche Programme) :

The Integrated Child Development Programme was launched on 1999. There are 30 Creche centers working in North Kanara district. Out of which 20 aided by CSWB- New Delhi & remains 10 un- aided Centers were being run by Kadamba.

The objective of the project:

  • To enhance the capability of the mother to look after the normal health and nutritional needs of the child through proper health and nutrition education.
  • To improve the nutritional and health status of child below the age of 6 years and also the pregnant and lacting mothers.
  • To lay the foundation for the proper psychological, physical and social development of the child.

These are services provided by the Crech centers

  • Providing supplementary nutrition food.
  • Immunization .
  • Health Check up.
  • Referral services
  • Preschool - no formal education
  • Nutrition and Health Education

3. Self Help Groups Training Programme :

Kadamba Charitable Foundation provide training to the members of self help group which facilitate to manage their affairs in an efficient manner. Training is imparted in various levels depending upon the need of the groups self help management programme.

The main objctives are:

  • Aims at training members on basic aspects of group formation while self help management programme.
  • Aims at training members in accounting and capacity building in self help management programme.
  • Skill are imparted to the members to carry out a group venture.

These programme are provided free of cost at the doorsteps of the members of Self help groups.

4.Vermi compost programme :

The Vermi compost programme is generally acceptable tool and cost effective method of transforming the lives of the rural community people. The vermin compost work not only income generating but also fostering Agriculture. So far, 50 pits have been constructed for selected poor beneficiaries as per the First phase Vermi compost programme. It will be continued in the next phase.

5. Awareness Generation Programme for women:

The awareness can create a sense of knowledge among the people create awareness among women themselves , a sense of knowledge must be required. For this purpose awareness generation programs were conducted regarding their rights , social, -economical, political as well as educational aspects.

6. Rural “Synd Kuteer” Housing Scheme:

To provide housing facilities for rural people through Collaboration of Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Ltd., Bangalore and Syndicate Bank. The role of Kadamba is to identify the beneficiaries through the gram panchayat and the facilitator of the Syndicate Bank and to assist the bank in loan recovery .

7.Management of micro watershed training programme :

Water shed training programme is one of the tool for creating awareness for water at maximum water table . water shed development programme will protect the fertility of the soil and help promoting agro - fostering & Horticulture. Besides water shed training programme will lead the people prosperity & create a knowledge about the best utilization of water resource.

8. Medical camps :

Good health is basic foundation for happy life. Kadamba charitable foundation has organized Naturopathy health education programme with coordination Nisarga Trust- Sirsi to maintain minimum health standards at grass root level for general public.

9.Publication :

To reach out to people and to educate the beneficiaries kadamba has launched monthly Journal named "KADAMBAVANI" printed in the local language of Kannada. This publication communicates the organisation's activities and address the various problems concerning the society with a quick circulation of more than 9000 copies. This journal is gaining popularity among the general public.
This journal also introduce man-y government schemes which are not known to general people.
